The uniqueness of Balinese culture is based on values that are rooted in the teachings of Hinduism. The Balinese recognize complementary binary opposition in the concept of rwa-bhineda, which is determined by space (village), time (time), and real conditions in the field (patra). The concept of village, when, this patra causes Balinese culture to be flexible and selective in accepting and adopting outside cultural influences.
