Barong Bali is one of the many kinds of Balinese performing arts. Barong is a traditional Balinese dance marked by a mask and body costume that can be worn by one or two people to dance it. In Bali there are several types of barong namely Barong Ket, Barong Bangkal, Barong Landung, Barong Macan, Barong Gajah, Barong Asu, Barut Brutuk, Barong Lembu, Kedongling Barong, Barong Kambing, Barong and Gagombrangan. Barong Bali is believed to be a metamorphosis of Barong Ponorogo or Reog from Java, brought by the King of Airlangga while fleeing to the island of Bali to save himself. In its development, Barong Ponorogo was changed in form and story according to the conditions of the people in Bali that were intended for religious spiritual activities.
